The Sunday
Cielo(シエロ) is a sekukyaba — a topless cabaret, what Kabukicho calls oppabu when it's being blunt — at 1-9-10 Kabukicho, KS Building 1F, five minutes from the east side of Shinjuku Station, phone 03-3202-3228, official site shinjuku-cielo.com. The Cityheaven listing bills it as the top of the Kabukicho sekukyaba pile: best cast, most cast, biggest floor, three grades of room, karaoke, all-you-can-drink draft beer, shochu, whisky and oolong tea.
The splash page dates the place: GRAND OPEN, October 2024. Not quite two years old.
That listing also prints, under closed days: なし(年中無休) — none, open all year.
Now pull up the shop's own September calendar. Every Sunday on it — the 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th — carries a red bar reading 夜の部 お休み: night floor closed. Every Monday — the 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th — carries 朝の部 お休み: morning floor closed. That is fifty-two nights and fifty-two mornings a year the portal says don't exist.
The weekly roster backs it up. Across all four pages of the attendance board, 86 women publish a shift schedule, and here is how they fall over the seven days starting today:
| Date | Sun 9/6 | Mon 9/7 | Tue 9/8 | Wed 9/9 | Thu 9/10 | Fri 9/11 | Sat 9/12 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Women on the board | 0 | 24 | 19 | 33 | 31 | 33 | 38 |
Zero. Not thin — empty. And in the small hours of this morning, one of the cast posted to the shop diary at 00:15: 店休前です — last one before the shop holiday. Two independent confirmations that the page promising 365 days is wrong about today.
So: Saturday is the fullest night of the week at 38 women, Wednesday and Friday tie at 33, Tuesday is the thinnest working night at 19, and Sunday night doesn't happen. If you want the widest choice, you want a Saturday. If you want to be noticed, take the Tuesday.
Which clock is real
Four sources on this shop print its hours. They do not agree.
| Source | Night floor | Morning floor |
|---|---|---|
| Cityheaven listing | 19:30~LAST | 6:00~11:00 |
| Official site header | 20:00~LAST | OPEN~10:00 |
| Official September calendar | 20:00~LAST | OPEN~10:00 |
| Official website-discount flyer | 19:30~LAST | 早朝~10:00 |
The morning close is 10:00 on three of the shop's own surfaces and 11:00 on the portal — that's an hour of trading the listing invents. The night open is split 2–2, with the shop's own flyer siding with the portal at 19:30 against its own header at 20:00.
Read the shift board and 19:30 looks doubtful: the earliest declared start any woman writes is 20:00, which thirty of them do. Nobody is on the floor at 19:30. Assume 20:00, and if you're planning around the morning floor, assume it ends at 10:00 — that's the number the shop prints on its own price board, right at the top.
The tax the portal gets backwards
This is the one that costs money, and it's the clearest error of the lot.
The Cityheaven listing renders the price board in two blocks and puts TAX 30% under the set-charge block and TAX 20% under the other-charges block. Read it that way and a 40-minute set is ¥8,000 + 30% = ¥10,400.
The shop's own printed board sorts it differently. Sets, nomination, floor nomination, douhan and every extension sit in one group under TAX 20%. There is exactly one item carrying TAX 30%, and it is the Royal VIP room.
The coupon page settles it. Both coupons state 税・サービス料込 and anchor to 40 min ¥9,600, which is 8,000 × 1.20 to the yen, and to a 20-minute extension at ¥4,800, which is 4,000 × 1.20 to the yen. Twenty percent, twice, on the portal's own page — contradicting the portal's own tax line four screens up.
The portal implies ¥800 more per set than the shop charges. Here's the board as the shop actually prints it, with the all-in number worked out:
| Item | Listed | Tax | All-in | Per minute |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ALL TIME, 1 set 40 min | ¥8,000 | 20% | ¥9,600 | ¥240 |
| Nomination (shimei) | ¥2,000 | 20% | ¥2,400 | — |
| Floor nomination (jonai shimei) | ¥2,000 | 20% | ¥2,400 | — |
| Douhan, 60 min | ¥15,000 | 20% | ¥18,000 | ¥300 |
| Extension, 20 min | ¥4,000 | 20% | ¥4,800 | ¥240 |
| Extension, 40 min | ¥7,000 | 20% | ¥8,400 | ¥210 |
| Extension nomination, 20 min | ¥1,000 | 20% | ¥1,200 | — |
| VIP room charge, per 20 min | ¥500 | 20% | ¥600 | ¥30 |
| Royal VIP room, 1 set 60 min | ¥15,000 | 30% | ¥19,500 | ¥325 |
Cards are accepted — the shop's board says so, the portal doesn't mention it.
The one place the meter goes down
Look at the extension rows again. Twenty minutes costs ¥4,800 all-in, which is ¥240 a minute — exactly the base rate, no reward for staying. Forty minutes costs ¥8,400, which is ¥210 a minute.
Two twenty-minute extensions: ¥9,600. One forty-minute extension: ¥8,400. Identical time, ¥1,200 apart, and the cheaper option is the only line on this entire board that prices below the base rate.
So the cheapest legitimate way to buy a long night here is the minimum first set and then forties: 40 + 40 + 40 comes to ¥9,600 + ¥8,400 + ¥8,400 = ¥26,400 for two hours, ¥220 a minute, against ¥28,800 if you drip it out in twenties. Decide before the clock runs down, because the twenty is what they'll offer you at the table.
Four doors, four prices
This shop can be entered four different ways, and the spread between the best and the worst is a factor of two.
Door 1 — Cityheaven, first visit or no nomination. 50 minutes, ¥6,000, tax and service included, valid on all time slots. The badge says 50% OFF and for once the badge is honest: ¥9,600 ÷ 40 = ¥240 a minute, ¥6,000 ÷ 50 = ¥120 a minute, exactly half. (On total spend it's 37.5% off, and you get ten extra minutes on top.) The shop's top page runs a sister number in the same breath: 70 minutes ¥10,000. That upgrade buys twenty additional minutes for ¥4,000 — ¥200 a minute, still under rack.
Door 2 — Cityheaven, returning, no nomination. 40 minutes, ¥7,000 all-in, ¥175 a minute. The badge here says 51% OFF and that one does not survive contact. It's anchored to ¥14,400, and the coupon's own breakdown shows what ¥14,400 is: a ¥9,600 set plus a ¥4,800 twenty-minute extension. Sixty minutes of product priced against forty minutes of coupon. Like for like it's ¥9,600 → ¥7,000, a 27% cut. Still a good cut. Just not the one on the sticker.
Door 3 — the shop's own site. Show the homepage at the door: 40 min ¥7,000 with nomination at ¥2,000, or 60 min ¥11,000 with nomination at ¥3,000. One printed condition, and it's the important one: 案内所などを通された時は無効 — if one of the touts or info-desks on Yasukuni-dori walks you in, the discount is dead. Walk yourself in.
Door 4 — the event. Running right now, starting tomorrow: LAST SUMMER 水着 DAYS, night floor 9/7–9/10, morning floor 9/8–9/11, swimsuits, honshimei free (that's the ¥2,400 fee for re-requesting your regular, waived), at 40 min ¥7,000 or 60 min ¥12,000, tax and service included.
Line the doors up per minute:
| Door | Course | Price | Per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heaven, first visit | 50 min | ¥6,000 | ¥120 |
| Heaven, first visit | 70 min | ¥10,000 | ¥143 |
| Heaven, returning | 40 min | ¥7,000 | ¥175 |
| Official site | 40 min | ¥7,000 | ¥175 |
| Official site | 60 min | ¥11,000 | ¥183 |
| Event 9/7–9/11 | 40 min | ¥7,000 | ¥175 |
| Event 9/7–9/11 | 60 min | ¥12,000 | ¥200 |
| Walk-in, no coupon | 40 min | ¥9,600 | ¥240 |
The best rate in the building is the first-visit coupon on the portal, and it is not close. ¥120 a minute is half of walk-in and a third under every other discount here. You get it once.
And note the trap sitting in both sixty-minute offers. The event's 60 at ¥12,000 against its own 40 at ¥7,000 charges ¥250 a minute for the extra twenty — worse than a rack extension at ¥240, far worse than a forty at ¥210. Take the event's 40 and extend, and sixty minutes costs ¥11,800 instead of ¥12,000. The website's 60 goes the other way and is genuinely worth it at ¥11,000 — unless you nominate, because the nomination fee on that plan jumps from ¥2,000 to ¥3,000. Nominating turns the website's 40 into ¥9,000 and its 60 into ¥14,000: ¥5,000 for the extra twenty minutes, ¥250 a minute. Same trap, different door.
The three-hour set, and who it's actually for
The shop's SPECIAL INFORMATION flyer offers a three-hour douhan set at a flat ¥50,000, tax and service included, and claims it saves you ¥1,600 on the main floor and ¥6,700 in VIP.
I rebuilt the main-floor claim off the board and it lands exactly:
| Line | Pre-tax |
|---|---|
| Douhan, 60 min | ¥15,000 |
| Three ALL TIME sets (120 min) | ¥24,000 |
| Nomination | ¥2,000 |
| Floor nomination | ¥2,000 |
| Subtotal | ¥43,000 |
| +20% tax | ¥51,600 |
¥51,600 − ¥50,000 = ¥1,600. Their number, to the yen. Which tells you precisely what the comparison assumes: that you were going to pay both nomination fees. Strip those out and the same three hours off the board costs ¥39,000 + 20% = ¥46,800 — meaning the "special" would charge you ¥3,200 more than simply booking the identical time.
Per minute: the set is ¥277.8, the à la carte version is ¥260, and plain seat time is ¥240. The premium isn't the discount, it's the douhan hour itself at ¥300 a minute. Take the three-hour set only if you were already nominating twice. Otherwise it's a surcharge with a flyer.
The VIP claim I can't make balance. Room charge over 180 minutes is nine blocks at ¥500 — ¥4,500, or ¥5,400 taxed — which puts the comparison at ¥57,000 and the saving at ¥7,000, not ¥6,700. Three hundred yen off in your favour, so nobody's being robbed, but no combination of the printed rates lands on their figure. Ask at the door.
Rooms, and what the Royal actually costs
Three grades of seating: main floor, VIP (a semi-private box at ¥600 per 20 minutes all-in), and the Royal VIP at ¥15,000 per 60-minute set — the single item on the board taxed at 30%, so ¥19,500.
Sixty minutes, three ways:
| Seat | Build | All-in |
|---|---|---|
| Main floor | 40-min set + 20-min extension | ¥14,400 |
| VIP box | same + 3 room blocks | ¥16,200 |
| Royal VIP | 1 set, 60 min | ¥19,500 |
The Royal is ¥3,300 over the VIP box and ¥5,100 over the plain floor for the same hour — an ¥85-a-minute premium on the room alone, before the 30% rate does its work. Karaoke's in there. Whether an hour of private karaoke in Kabukicho is worth five thousand yen is between you and your voice.
Ninety-five profiles, and one very narrow band
95 women are listed. 86 publish an age. 84 publish a full stat line. Among those 84:
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Age range | 20–27 |
| Mean age | 22.1 |
| Aged 20 | 29 of 84 (35%) |
| Aged 20–24 | 72 of 84 (86%) |
| Aged 25 | 0 |
| Height | 146–173 cm, mean 158.6 |
| Bust | 80–100 cm, mean 87.4 |
| D cup or larger | 50 of 84 (59.5%) |
Cup distribution: C 24, D 19, E 19, F 7, B 6, A 4, G 3, H 1, I 1. C and D and E together are three-quarters of the floor — this is not a bust-gimmick house, whatever the genre implies. It's a young house. A third of the roster is exactly twenty years old, the oldest woman on the board is twenty-seven, and the distribution has a clean hole where twenty-five should be. Nine women are twenty-six, three are twenty-seven, and then it stops.
Two more numbers from the listing's own filter bar, and they're the ones I'd weigh:
- 写メ日記アリ: 66 — two-thirds keep a photo diary, and eight of them posted between midnight and 03:00 last night. The floor is genuinely active.
- 動画アリ: 0 — not one video on 95 profiles.
- 口コミアリ: 2 — two women out of ninety-five carry a single customer review. Every other profile shows 口コミ募集, reviews wanted. For a shop this size in a district this trafficked, that's a near-total absence of independent signal. You're buying the photographs.
- 新人: 0 — no new arrivals flagged, on a listing whose sales copy says women join 毎日のように, practically every day, and that girls graduate from here to high-end kyabakura. Both things can be true; the badge just isn't being used.
No English, no exceptions
Not a word of English, Chinese or Korean anywhere on either site. No translated menu, no multilingual line, and a system with four separate discount doors that all have to be named out loud at reception. If your Japanese is shaky, the workable move is the portal coupon — show the screen. The coupon page prints its own condition as present this screen or tell the staff 「ヘブン見た」. Four syllables. That's the whole transaction.

CIELO is a big, busy, young Kabukicho floor with an all-in rate of ¥240 a minute and a first-visit price of ¥120, which in this district is a real number and not a trick. The problem isn't the shop. The problem is that the page most people will find it through is wrong about when it's open, wrong about what it charges in tax, and wrong about a badge on its own coupon — and every one of those errors resolves in the portal's favour, not yours.
So: don't come on a Sunday night or a Monday morning. Come Saturday if you want all 38 on the board, Tuesday if you'd rather be the only one asking. Bring the portal's first-visit coupon and spend the once-only ¥120-a-minute rate on the longest version of it you can — the 70 at ¥10,000. Take the VIP room waiver, not the nomination discount, on anything over forty minutes. Never buy time in twenties when a forty costs ¥1,200 less. Walk in on your own two feet, because the website discount dies at the touch of a tout. And budget at 20% tax and a 10:00 morning close, whatever the listing says — those are the numbers on the board the staff are actually reading from.
